Randy Chavez, the Landscape Supervisor for the City of Palm Desert, provided me with an update regarding replacing the palapa that burned last spring:
Hello Ms. Kozak, I do apologize for the inconvenience. The park shelter that will be replacing the palapa will be an all steel structure. Manufacturing the structure took a bit longer than anticipated. However, the good news is that the structure has been delivered. The contractor has been trying to schedule the installation for the past couple of weeks, but the rain has put a damper on that. The contractor will be here tomorrow formalizing the final logistics and plans to begin on Friday. However, if it rains, this will push the project back a few days. Please feel free to e-mail me or contact me at 760.776.6462 if you have any further questions.
Great news! Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
